High Art

Rural America comes alive...

The wonderful Iowahawk blog has another great post, this time with some homebrewed Redneck Haiku. Capturing the magic and madness of small town life, it's worth a gander.

Call it inspiration from my muse, but I was inspired to create my own classics...

Not Mayberry
Drunk in an alley
Sleeping it off, why did we
Elect him sheriff?

Job Well Done
Sweat drips from my brow
Pride in an honest days toil
Here on work release

High Cotton
Bride and groom just wed
Receiving them in fine style
At Cracker Barrel

Cruel Fates
A man's hard work gone
A heartless garnish, cursed
Paternity test

If Loving You Is Wrong
Man and wife joined
Two in naked detail, like
When they were cousins

Gated Community
Drinking from a hose
The neighbor shows his place in
Just a single-wide
